Thank you for attending worship each Sunday and making us a vital space for all on the evolving journey of the Spirit. The following is a list of sermon scriptures and faithful themes.

February 7th Fifth Sunday After Epiphany, Communion Sunday
Worship: 10:00am
Scripture: Psalm 138, Luke 5:1-11
Sermon: More than Words
You Might have heard this: "Proclaim The Gospel always: When Jesus teaches about the word of God from the boat but then goes out and helps them catch a boat load of fish, the fisherman can see that, not only does he teach about the word of God, he is the word of God. Some of the best teachers I have had not only were great teachers, but were in some ways the embodiment of what they taught. How do we as a people say yes to the leaders who embody a teaching? How well do we ourselves teach what we are, or become what we teach? These are the questions which shall frame this Sunday's sermon.
February 14th Transfiguration Sunday
Worship: 10:00am
Scripture: Luke 9:28-36
Sermon: Grandiosity is Mediocrity
In this rather archetypal scripture the truth of Christ's radiant self is revealed on a mountaintop, and a more prickly side to him is revealed on the plain. In both instances, perhaps we get all hung up in who Christ is and fail to consider who we are? Peter is obsessed about how to best memorialize the radiance of Christ, and the disciples later can't seem to heal people because they haven't figured out how the Emanuel events relate to their own lives. Hang-ups about self worth and the worth of others is not as important as embracing life as it is. Beyond all the talk of transfiguration and miracle work, maybe Christ just wanted us to stop deceiving ourselves into thinking we were somehow unworthy of being loved? Christ wants us to embrace outselves and others not as what a person should be, but as we are.

February 17th Sixth Sunday After Epiphany
Worship: 6:30pm
Ash Wednesday Service

Come join us for a beautiful and simple Ash Wednesday Service where, in the awareness of our mortal coil, we recommit our lives to the spiritual light of the life in Christ.

February 21st First Sunday of Lent
Worship: 10:00am
Scripture: Deuteronomy 26:1-11, Luke 4:1-13
Sermon: Of Truth and Power
I am left amazed again at the power of the story of Christ. Here where Christ is tempted by being able to provide bread to everyone, to command everyone, and even the god-like capability of indestructibility itself, he persisted in another way. Christ performs miracles of healing...yes but clearly he was more than a healer. Christ spoke truth to power, but he was also more than a prophet, Christ performed miracles, but his truth does not wholly depend on these miracles. Beyond everything else, Christ was a man who was a radical advocate for putting God before all things...and in this, all things...bread for the needy, leadershp for those in chaos, end even immortality itself is possible. Truth first and then power...all will come as it is needed.
February 28th Second Sunday of Lent
Worship: 10:00am
Scripture: Philippians 3:17-44:1
Sermon: What Validates Us?
Paul tells us to imitate Christ and worship God rather than the belly, or other earthly things. But let's face it, its hard to live life by heavens terms. How do we truly imitate Christ?
